6th June – 16th August 2015
Solo Exhibition – Site specific commission
Title: Twin Fields (I) (2015)
FIELD work – sculptural installation with audio, light and wind
dimensions variable
TWIN FIELDS occupied all the spaces of the gallery, proposing it as a landscape of both physical and psychological dimensions, defined by a process blue carpet. ‘Twinned’ sculptural structures, based on the floor plan of the gallery, were filled with an accumulation of materials and sounds creating images through a language of component parts. Field (I) on the ground floor could be seen by moving around it in the small gap between gallery wall and the structure. Field (II) in the upper gallery could be entered. Stacks sat on the floor in the hallway, necessitating a delicate negotiation in order to pass by without it collapsing.
“For the last decade and a half, Anne Hardy has consistently constructed sculptures that make perception their primary medium. She cajoles the surrounding environment into becoming an active component of the work, while her sculptures gently press their claim for possession on all that surrounds, freeing the exhibition spaces from being mere sites of containment. In turn, those that encounter her work are invited to become inhabitants.”
